9 days until our departure!

Welcome to our blog!  Diaspora Health Missions Group was established by a group of American healthcare providers, from a multitude of backgrounds and specialties, to promote health and wellness in the African diaspora.

The anticipation of our first trip is growing day by day as we work feverishly to make sure all of our plans materialize seamlessly.  Being that this will be our first trip, there will certainly be some inevitable hiccoughs along the way.  Nevertheless, we have an extraordinary group of people on our team whose flexibility will make this trip a great success.

Most of our group is comprised of first-time travelers to the continent of Africa.  Our three co-founders have already experienced Mombasa and are eager to return; while the rest of us rookies are somewhat anxious, yet equally excited.  Quite honestly, as a Level 1000 germaphobe, I am particularly nervous about the sanitation [or lack thereof] that we will likely encounter on this trip.  Luckily, I am a praying person, and I have the utmost confidence that whatever doesn't kill me, the Lord will use to make me stronger [provided it is not in parasitic form...pray church!].  Ultimately, we want to use our ministry to glorify God so that His name will be praised by all we encounter.

So, in case you're wondering what you can expect from this blog...let me paint a vivid preview.  You will get to witness--first hand--our daily journeys [hopefully moment by moment], but that will be contingent upon our internet access.  You will get to vicariously follow our path, and hear the thoughts and personal experiences from other members in our group...not to mention access to all of the amazing sites we expect to see--complemented by video footage (courtesy of A+B Productions).

I invite you to share our site with your friends and family.  Although our trip is about accomplishing a mission, it will not be all work.  We plan to sightsee and have a good time.  The majority of the group consists of old friends who plan to make the most of our two weeks together.  Stay tuned!
