Kwaheri ("Goodbye" in Swahili)

(picture taken at the end of our first day of safari)

Today is our last day in Kenya.  We'll be spending the next twelve hours touring and sightseeing in Nairobi.  There are four of left: myself, Ben, Jenn Noble, and Aunt Bertha.  We'll be flying to London together and then going our separate ways from there.  Although Kenya has been good to us, and definitely was a wonderful experience, I think we're all ready to go.  Some have gone straight home, while others have made plans to spend additional time in Europe before heading back to the states.

Being here has certainly heightened our appreciation for the simple conveniences of American life.  Nevertheless, our mission work in Kenya has reignited our awareness and motivation to assist those who are less fortunate.  Americans by birthright are entitled to a multitude of privileges and luxuries that some of the people we visited will never know.  This trip has been a total reality check for many of us.  God has certainly blessed us beyond measure.

It is our hope that the accounts of our time and mission work in Kenya [all of which haven't been documented yet...stay tuned] will inspire you to one day do the same.  There is plenty of work to be done on all fronts. You don't have to travel abroad to lend a hand.  During one of our worship moments, Jennifer Noble challenged us to redirect our dedication for the needy and to apply it in our own backyards.  Sure it feels real "Angelina and Brad Pitt-ish" to travel to a developing country and feel like you're working to make a difference [I too felt like adopting a kid or two].  In actuality, your efforts will be more longstanding and sustainable in your own community.

Cheers to humanitarians of all kinds...on all fronts!!!
